He didn't want to smile for this picture, but he did...probably because he was so excited!
When J.J. saw me, he started to run faster. I was able to snap a pic before he took off out of sight!
Here he is finishing up with Dad. I was so proud of him!!! Most kindergartners stopped running the race after the first lap and got their ice cream. Not J.J.!! He wanted to do the whole thing...and he did! He ran almost three miles! Jar said he walked some of the way too, but WOW, I was so impressed! He's got a real competitive side to him and didn't want his Dad to beat him. I think he won! He didn't even want to stop to get water at the tables...he had to keep going.
J.J. having his well deserved treat at the end.
Well, I don't know if you can see it very well, but this is the second post. Look at Chase's left eye. How many colors can you see? The other day I was doing dishes (yes, it's a miracle), and Chase was in the front room with J.J. I heard a thunk and then crying. When I got in there, I could see some color and swelling already starting to form by his eye. He was not a happy camper. Chase wouldn't let me put ice on it, so I just held him for a while. It was so sad...but at least he still has his eye! I was a little worried when I saw how close it came. Apparently, he got onto the couch and fell off right onto the coffee table. OUCH! Sorry, buddy. That'll teach me to clean house!
Post #3. Carving pumpkins for FHE was a lot of fun. J.J. couldn't wait to actually do some of the cutting. Ryan just wanted to eat the Sweettarts he had picked out at the store for the treat (well actually, he opened it at the store; therefore I HAD to buy it for our treat). J.J. pretty much designed the smaller pumpkin. Ryan was supposed to help daddy with the big one, and I think he did get out some of the "guts".
As always, Chase had to be right in the middle of things. I gave him one of the Sweettarts, thinking he'd chew it up, but he swallowed it instead. He had a hard time breathing for a while, but eventually he puked it up. Poor, poor Chase. What's it gonna take for Mommy to learn her lessons? Maybe some carpet cleaning (yes, that was my job for FHE).

Oh my goodness! I can't believe he ran almost three miles! That's incredible! Way to go, JJ!!!
Poor little Chasers! He sure is cute, though! He puked the sweettart? Wow, little guy!
Your pumpkins turned out great! I love them! The pic of your boys and the jack-o-lanterns is classic...one you'll love 20 years from now!
I miss you!!
And Ry Ry is so cute...opening Sweettarts in the store. Uh oh. :)
WOW!! JJ I am so proud of you for finishing your race! You are quite the runner just like your Mommy and Daddy. Ask your Daddy to tell you about the races he ran in high school... I think running is in your blood too!
What a fun jack-o-lantern carving FHE. You guys made some pretty cool jacks!
So sorry about little Chase. It's pretty ruff being brother number 3 and trying to keep up with the big bro's. You are quite the trooper, Melinda, and the heroine in these stories!
I like that JJ is sportin a cool BYU shirt.
My favoret pic is of jj and jaren running together.
Looks like fun. Congratulations to JJ for running such a long run.
Poor Chase! He just can't get things to go well for him! I am AMAZED at JJ--I don't think I could run 3 miles (i am weak). Your pumpkins are cute!
Wow, I'm so proud of JJ, running 3 miles!! What determination he had, and HAS, he kept going, and going!!
Poor Chasey's black eye, I'm thankful it didn't get his eye, so scary.
I love your pumpkins, Chase lookin in the pumpkin :) Ryan's mouth wide open to show off his sweettart colors! haha, love it! :)
I can't believe how big your boys are getting! JJ is so cute...he is super competative like Callie. Maybe it is an oldest child thing.
What a super-stud is that JJ?!? I am in awe.
Poor little Chase! I hope his eye is healing.
And what fancy pumpkins! Great job!
Sorry Melinda, my creative genius has turned off on this comment. But yes, Ian's nickname (correction: ONE of Ian's nicknames) is Smooch. Hey, he's super smoochable.
