We went shooting!! J.J. shot the gun for the first time. He'd been asking for a while to go, but it just never worked out. So this time, we ALL went. I could tell J.J. was scared when he shot it. I don't think he knew that it would be so loud or hard. When I tried to talk about it with him later, he got a little anxious until I asked him if he was a little scared. He didn't really want to say he was, but after I admitted that I got scared too, he willingly said he was a LITTLE scared. 
Jaren has been wanting to show me how to use the gun in case I ever needed to use it (crossing my fingers here that it'll never happen!). I thought it was horrible and scary. I think I need a smaller gun without so much bang. The first time I shot the gun, I had my hand in a different spot and when the gun recoiled, it got my thumb. Ouch. I am glad to know how though.
Here's the master. (Jaren asked me not to write this...but since this is my blog, I can do what I want) J.J. and I watched him from the car and he nailed some pretty good shots. I kept thinking, maybe I'll be better next time. And then I'd remember that I didn't really want a next time. :)
Here are the boys...watching The Incredibles. Chase just woke up; therefore, he's not happy.
All in all, it was a pretty fun day.

looks like you guys had fun! I am not a big fan of shooting guns either, but it is a nice thing to know! Caden gets scared too!
I don't like the kickback either! I want a tiny weeny gun to use. Although there was one really nice rifle I liked. The cross hairs made for an accurate shoot...even for a total novice like me.
JJ is a good boy.
p.s. The distant snow-covered mountains and the blue sky there are pretty. We have plenty of blue sky...but not so much of the snow-covered mountains. :)
I hereby vow to never make you need to know how to use a gun. :)
